Job Title: Operations Planning Manager

Salary: Up to £55,000

Location: Gloucester

Type: Short term - Interim 6 months

Hours: 9-5 Monday- Friday (37,5h per week)

Our client based in Gloucester is looking for an exceptional Operational Planning Manager to join their team. This is a great opportunity for a dynamic and driven individual who will play a critical role in ensuring operational excellence by continuously improving department processes in sales, marketing and manufacturing. The ideal candidate should have strong project management, programme delivery, and budgetary performance tracking skills, along with experience in managing compliance and succession planning also should have excellent knowledge of MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Teams, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to write for a variety of media, purposes, and audiences.

They should be forward-looking and able to produce innovative ideas, prioritise activity through strong planning and organisational skills, and demonstrate excellent resilience and the ability to cope well with pressure. The candidate should also possess strong influencing skills across the organisation and with a range of stakeholders and service partners, deliver work to agreed deadlines without compromising quality.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Product Manager:

  • Lead the Planning & Scheduling Team to ensure Master Production Scheduling & Production Planning is aligned to meeting customer expectations.
  • Balancing short term & long-term capacity planning based on Demand, for labour and machines / equipment
  • Supply of customer orders On-Time in Full (OTIF) & continually drive to exceed customer expectations.
  • Developing effective forecast models based on sales trends and demand patterns.
  • Proposing and implementing solutions to improve demand management & forecast accuracy.
  • Successfully communicating forecast and inventory estimations to key stakeholders across the supply chain
  • Assisting in developing annual budgets and streamlining costs
  • Work with the Procurement team to monitor and maintain optimal material supply and inventory levels to satisfy production plans.
  • Build capability in the planning & scheduling team using the standard business processes for personal development planning and talent management.
  • Maintaining training materials and organizing training to team members
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures in support of the Supply Chain Function which in turn will reduce business risk and ensure operational continuity

Skills and experience sought:

Essential - minimum 5 years Manufacturing/ FMCG background

Minimum of 2 years-experience in a Planning Manager role (people, projects and planning process) in a manufacturing business

Minimum of 5 years in a Production Planning & Master Production Scheduling role in a manufacturing business

All of the above experience should have been gained in a environment where customer demand / ordering patterns are volatile, and where production complexity is a mix of high volume low variety, and low volume high variety

MRP experience is essential, using an industry recognised MRP / ERP system
