Role: Mechanical Systems Engineer
Salary: £27.21 Per Hour (PAYE) / £34.78 Per Hour (Umbrella)
Location: Hybrid Role – 2 Days A Week On Site In Peterborough (If Needed)
Duration: 12 Month Contract – Possibility To Be Extended
Shifts: Mon – Thurs 08:00 – 16:45 / Fri – 08:00 – 16:15 (Flexibility Around Working Hours)

Wanted: Mechanical Systems Engineer to join the Mechanical Systems Team to support the design & development of new and updated diesel engines for industrial applications at the Engineering & Technology centre where you will work alongside a range of system and validation specialists, with support and collaboration from Engineers across facilities in US, China, India, and Japan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical objectives & identify system level trade-offs including performance, packaging & durability – utilising a combination of simulation and test data.
  • Creation of Engine System Failure Mode Effective Analysis' (FMEA), supporting risk identification, providing technical guidance on system integration and facilitating the creation of system & component validation plans (DVP – Design Verification Plan)
  • Develop targeted validation activities to focus on specific failure modes and/or technical objectives
  • Analysis of engine and machine data from validation tests and in-field usage
  • Support Technical Issue resolution
  • Collaborate with component & test engineers to drive decision making from engine data reviews and end of test inspections.

Experience of:

  • Engineering degree or similar
  • A Systems Engineering approach to product development
  • Experience of Root Cause investigation techniques
  • Ability to analyse engine or machine data with experience of engines or similar applications
  • Experience of engine design, development or simulation
  • Experience of DFMEA facilitation and creation
  • Demonstrated experience of planning validation and test requirements
  • Experience of Proactive Reliability, and demonstration of Product Quality
  • 6 Sigma Methodology and Continuous Process Improvement
  • Experience of industrial diesel engine applications, construction machinery or generating sets.
