They're based in a beautiful rural location within Cambridgeshire.

Working on the R&D of novel proof of concept devices, like modulators, detectors and transistors, your process development and test experience, ideally with 2D materials, will help to enhance performance of these ground breaking products.

The Role:

  • Work on novel semiconductor devices to deliver high performance graphene / 2D material devices
  • Introduce and develop processes, such as photolithography, deposition and etching processes
  • Carry out device testing and analysis, summarising current performance and suggest areas of improvement or modification
  • Work closely with project teams to develop the structures required
  • Design experiments to maximise understanding of factors influencing graphene and other 2D material electronic properties and exercise this to improve design, fabrication and performance
  • Take responsibility for assigned project activities work packages and manage them effectively and efficiently through to delivery.
  • Work with external partners to deliver device technologies and processes
  • Clear and concise reporting across the business

What do you need to be successful?

  • A PhD in a suitable subject and/or equivalent industrial experience
  • Excellent understanding of semiconductor materials and device physics, with the capability to design and develop semiconductor devices from the base material up
  • Proven experience of developing early-stage technologies to proof of concept or prototype level
  • Understanding of processes and tools for semiconductor device manufacturing

What would give you the edge?

  • Any experience of graphene or other 2D materials
  • Modelling and simulation software and design tools
  • Experience in new product development
  • Knowledge of high frequency device design
