Overview of a Security Guard
Pertemps have an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Security Guard?to join an expanding team.
The role of a Security Guard has a competitive pay rate of £13.10 per hour, increasing in line with Harrow Council Pay Scale increments. Other benefits include, accruing up to 28 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays) and the opportunity to apply for any internal permanent roles within Harrow Council.

The Main Purpose of a Security Guard:

Work as part of a team to provide a 24 hour/7 day a week security service in accordance with the Site Operating instructions as directed by the Security Supervisor.
Provide an effective reception/telephone service for all callers as required outside of normal office hours.
Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and the provision of a safe working environment for all, including Monitoring the premises fire alarm systems, intruder alarm systems and being fully conversant with the emergency evacuation procedures.
Assist in the evacuation of premises as required.
Testing panic alarms and the PA/Tannoy system
Undertaking major Key audits and providing and maintaining a key holding service for all corporate sites
Ensure compliance with all financial & administrative procedures, including; taking cash & forms to the cashier, filling out Incident reports in the SHE system, completing the Health & Safety spreadsheet
Taking deliveries from the loading bay and delivering packages to staff.
Assisting in the setting up of meeting rooms, including dealing with IT issues in committee rooms/council chamber.
Dealing with contractors and remaining with them when working in sensitive areas, including out of hours.
Management of reserved car parking space booking requests.
Set up and maintain a system for the administration of the Council's Pool Car pilot scheme - including all key handling, online bookings, data entry for mileage, majority of general enquiries.
Dealing with general requests/enquiries from the public in Access to Harrow area in the absence of Advisor staff members.
Cash in transit duties - providing an escort for Cashiers to and from payment machines and ATM.
Assisting members of the public with making payments into payment machines.
Promote, develop and maintain effective contacts & relationships with managers, customers and council officers as appropriate. Ensure all dealings with customers are carried out in a courteous and polite manner.
Covering the Security Supervisor role during absences.

About you, the successful will have:

Valid SLA Badge/Certification
Previous experience working as an Security Guard/Officer
Knowledge of alarm systems including checking & setting
Knowledge of relevant Health, Safety & Welfare legislation and approved Codes of Practice.
Experience of working under pressure, to strict deadlines in a demanding environment including in emergency situations
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including simple written reports and excellent telephone manner
Ability to always provide a high standard of customer care to ensure excellent service delivery
